Vejdirektoratet (The Road Directorate, ed) had a drone in the air over the Storstrømmen when the first girder for the new Storstrøm Bridge was lifted into place at the weekend.

A mere 73 meters and 4000 tons
The bridge girder is 73 meters long and weighs 4,000 tonnes. It is water next to the Fehmarn Tunnel’s standard elements, which each weigh 73,500 tons and are 217 meters long. However, it is still an operation that requires both great patience and a safe hand.

In the video below you can see how it happened.

In the next few years, a further 43 bridge girders of the same size plus four special bridge girder elements for the two traversing sections must be sailed before the new Storstrømsbro connects Falster and Masnedø.
