One of the industry’s major operators is behind plans for a data centre of more than 328,000 square metres near Rødby.
This is confirmed by Allan Egeris Arentsen, CEO of project developer Stender, which is developing the project on behalf of the still unnamed company.
He still will not reveal the company’s identity, but says it has a strategy of building several large-scale hyperscale data centres.
- It is one of the major operators with a strategic plan to expand with this type of hyperscale project, says Allan Egeris Arentsen.
Stender is bound by a non-disclosure agreement, an NDA, and is therefore unable to disclose which company is involved. According to the CEO, the operator does not want to identify itself publicly until there is greater certainty that the project can be realised.
- Once we are further along in the process, we will put a name to it. Then everyone will find out who it is and where the company comes from, he says.
The preliminary plan includes eight data centre buildings and capacity of up to 960 MW.
The final size of the facility will depend, among other things, on the power supply, the local development plan and the necessary regulatory approvals.
