More foreign employees are now working at workplaces on Lolland-Falster.
In both Lolland and Guldborgsund, the number has increased over the past year. The largest percentage increase was in Guldborgsund, according to data extracted from Jobindsats.
In August, 2,109 foreign nationals had wage income from workplaces in the municipality, compared with 1,920 in the same month last year. This is an increase of almost 10 per cent. The increase is therefore more than twice as large as the national figure, where the number grew by 4.6 per cent.
In Lolland Municipality, the number has risen from 4,822 to 5,039, corresponding to 4.5 per cent. Vordingborg is moving in the opposite direction, with a decline from 1,546 to 1,356 foreign employees.
The decrease is just over 12 per cent, but the figures do not in themselves reveal the reasons behind it.
The development comes at a time when international employees are playing an increasingly important role in the Danish economy. According to a new analysis by Dansk Erhverv, they contributed DKK 95 billion to Denmark's GDP in the second quarter of 2026, measured at constant prices.
This corresponds to 13.5 per cent of GDP and is the highest contribution to date. International employees also accounted for 74 per cent of the growth in employee employment over the past year.
The local figures cover August and therefore cannot be compared directly with Dansk Erhverv’s quarterly figures. Jobindsats records employees according to their workplace, so they do not necessarily live in the municipality in which they are counted.
The extract includes foreign nationals with earned income and excludes posted workers registered in RUT.
