The industrial park near Rødbyhavn should be able to take its first steps before the tunnel factory and harbour are ready for new companies.
Lolland Municipality therefore asked the state to divide the area into two phases, and that request has been approved. This is stated in the agenda for the municipal council meeting on 29 October.
The first phase covers privately owned land to the north. It will be developed independently of the state-owned land containing the tunnel factory and harbour, which form part of the second phase. This means work to attract new production companies can continue while construction of the tunnel is still under way.
The ambition for Femern Port & Industrial Park is to create jobs and attract new companies to the area. The municipality is particularly targeting green industry and production requiring large-scale port facilities.
However, the agenda does not specify when the first company could begin construction.
The municipal council must now decide on a cooperation agreement with the Danish Business Authority. Among other things, the municipality will be responsible for the planning framework and for preparing a development plan with milestones leading up to 2035.
A plan must also be drawn up for the necessary infrastructure, including roads, water and electricity.
