Private companies in Region Zealand are taking on more employees, but the growth is not being felt across the entire region.

While Guldborgsund is gaining more jobs, the number is declining in both Lolland and Vordingborg municipalities.

This is shown by Business Hub Zealand's employment report, based on figures from Statistics Denmark and processed by eStatistik. From the second quarter of 2025 to the same quarter in 2026, the number of private-sector jobs in Region Zealand increased by 2,479, equivalent to 1 per cent.

On Lolland, however, two of the major sectors are moving in opposite directions. Construction loses 289 jobs over the course of a year, while manufacturing gains 210. Manufacturing is therefore helping to support employment, while the number of construction jobs is falling.

Overall, the number of private-sector jobs in Lolland Municipality falls by 48 to 14,441. This is a decline of 0.3 per cent.

Vordingborg is experiencing a larger decline. There are 192 fewer private-sector jobs, leaving the municipality with 10,237. This corresponds to a decline of 1.8 per cent.

Here too, construction plays a significant role in the figures. Construction loses 210 jobs, while the transport sector declines by 66. In contrast, manufacturing gains 35 jobs, while hotels and restaurants grow by 28.

Growth in Guldborgsund

Guldborgsund is moving in the opposite direction, with 112 more private-sector jobs. This brings the total to 14,687, an increase of 0.8 per cent.

The sector group comprising travel agencies, cleaning and other operational services in particular contributes 125 additional jobs. Construction grows by 62, while retail loses 59.

Combined, the three municipalities have 128 fewer private-sector jobs than the previous year. Across the whole of Region Zealand, 11 of the 17 municipalities are seeing growth. The figures are calculated according to where the jobs are located.
