The industrial park near Rødbyhavn is to be developed while the tunnel factory is still operating. However, it is not yet known when the first company will be able to break ground.
This is according to Birgitte Rønnow, Head of Strategy and Policy at Lolland Municipality.
- There is not yet sufficient basis to say when the first company can realistically begin construction in phase 1.
The state has accepted the municipality's request to divide Femern Port & Industrial Park into two phases. The privately owned areas to the north will therefore be able to be developed independently of the tunnel factory and the port, which belong to the second phase.
However, the executive order on the designation and the national planning directive must first be approved, which the municipality expects to happen at the end of 2026.
After that, questions still need to be answered. The municipality does not yet know what further planning or measures concerning electricity, water and roads will be necessary. This will be investigated during 2027.
- The continued work on a master plan and the plan for the area's infrastructure will help clarify the needs and provide a more concrete basis for development, says Birgitte Rønnow.
The municipality is therefore also unable to specify exactly what could delay the first establishment. At the same time, the land in the first phase is privately owned. It is therefore up to the landowners to enter into agreements on sale or leasing to companies.
