The waiting time for building permits has significantly decreased in several municipalities in FemernBusiness’ coverage area. Especially Vordingborg and Guldborgsund have considerably reduced the processing time over the past year.
In Vordingborg Municipality, it took an average of 22 days to process a building case in 2025. The year before, the waiting time was 48 days.
Lolland Municipality has also achieved shorter processing times. Here, the waiting time has decreased from 40 days to 32 days. The greatest improvement in the area is seen in Guldborgsund Municipality, where the processing time has been reduced from 83 days to 54 days.
The figures come from a new analysis by the Confederation of Danish Industry based on data from Local Government Denmark.
Below regional level
Across Region Zealand, the average processing time has decreased from 85 days in 2024 to 69 days in 2025.
Both Vordingborg and Lolland are thus significantly below the regional average, while Guldborgsund, despite the improvement, is still slightly above.
The analysis also shows that the waiting time nationwide has decreased slightly. In 2025, it took an average of 56.4 days to process a building case compared to 57.7 days the year before.
Housing construction drives the development
According to the analysis, the development is partly due to the number of building cases rising again after some weak years in construction. In 2025, municipalities processed around 30,300 building cases nationwide, which is 2,100 more than the year before.
The increase is mainly due to more cases involving single-family houses and apartment buildings with residences, as well as simple structures like carports and outbuildings.
At the same time, the analysis points out that there are still significant differences between municipalities. In some municipalities, a building case can be processed in a few days, while in other places the waiting time can be up to 200 days.
In all three municipalities, the shorter processing time for building cases has been a focus area.
