FBC helps vulnerable people with excess food
On Friday, 23 December, FBC brought joy to the local association Stop Spild Lokalt Nakskov (Stop Waste Locally Nakskov, ed). FBC called, saying that the association could come and pick up a quantity of food.
They had been ordered home to a ship that did not dock anyway. And instead of letting the food go to waste, it now came to benefit the vulnerable citizens of Nakskov, whom the association helps.
Tannie Eriksen, responsible for the daily operation of Stop Spild Lokalt Nakskov, says that the association and FBC have a collaboration where FBC calls from time to time. Once, for example, a vessel had come in that needed to be emptied of food, as it was no longer operational on the project. Thus FBC decided to donate the food.
– There was both fruit, vegetables, bread, meat, and frozen goods, so we filled the car, says Tannie Eriksen.
She is always happy when receiving food, especially about the donation that came on Christmas Eve.
– Here in the run-up to Christmas, we need extra help because many are in need and are looking for help, she says and explains that the collected food items will be distributed in Nakskov on Christmas Eve at 10 o’clock.
At FBC, they are also happy to be able to help, says Helle Aagaard, HR coordinator.
– We have a good collaboration when we have something that should not go to waste, she says.
