Claus Meyer has once again opened his wallet to keep Hotel Saxkjøbing alive. The local hotel also ended 2024 with a larger deficit.
The deficit at Hotel Saxkjøbing A/S last year amounted to 2.8 million kroner. This is almost the same as the year before.
Nevertheless, Claus Meyer continues to support the hotel financially. In 2024, his company, Claus Meyer Holding A/S, provided three million kroner as a subsidy or debt forgiveness. The money is recorded directly in equity and therefore does not have to be repaid. He has owned the company since it was founded in 2006 and has had 100 percent ownership since 2018.

2023: - 2,847,000 DKK
2022: - 2,400,000 DKK

The figures are after tax and taken from the company's annual accounts. The amounts are rounded to the nearest thousand DKK.
At the same time, Meyer Holding has increased its long-term loans to the hotel to a total of 12.3 million kroner. The accounts show that no repayments have been agreed upon, and the money is only to be repaid when the hotel can afford it.
Many years of deficits
In 2022, the deficit was 2.4 million kroner. At that time, Claus Meyer explained that the year had been marked by a difficult restart after the lockdowns. He also expressed hope that 2023 would be better.
In both 2023 and 2024, things continued to go the wrong way. The gross profit increased in 2024 to 6.6 million kroner, but expenses followed - especially personnel expenses, which grew to 8.2 million kroner. The hotel had an average of 22 employees during the year.
Capital and Trust
The hotel's equity has grown to just under 3.8 million DKK despite the deficit. This is solely due to the financial support. Claus Meyer has also given a formal guarantee to provide more funds if necessary to ensure operations in 2025.
The management describes the year's result as unsatisfactory but expects improvements in the coming years. Savings are planned, and there is a focus on maintaining or increasing activity.
Claus Meyer himself serves as the chairman of the board in the company and thus also has the formal responsibility for its development.
