The second time was lucky for 22-year-old Andreas Madsen. Andreas, together with the rest of the team, managed to win the trophy for the national championship in Skills for process operators. Andreas Madsen also competed in the national championship in Skills last year. Back then it was second place.

The national championship in skills is a competition for students at Denmark’s vocational training courses, where they compete to be the best student or apprentice in their subject. This year, the task for the three process operator students was to teach how to use a coffee roaster – and not, as Andreas Madsen does on a daily basis, to mix concrete for the Fehmarn tunnel.

A pat on the back
– I am very proud to have won the national championship in Skills together with the rest of the team. It’s a huge pat on the back for me and my team, and it’s proof that my teachers at the school and at FLC are good at their jobs. I hope that, with the title, I can contribute to putting more focus on vocational training towards other young people, says Andreas Madsen.

First place in the Danish competition gives access to compete to become the world’s best craft, welfare or business student at World Skills. World Skills is held every two years, and this year it takes place in Gdansk, Poland, in September.
