Møns Bank has gained a new significant shareholder. SJF Bank has acquired 15.0049 per cent of the shares, giving it ownership of just over one in seven shares in the local bank.
Møns Bank sees the investment as a vote of confidence in the bank’s development and business model.
- We see SJF Bank’s investment as recognition of the positive development Møns Bank has achieved over a number of years. Our focus remains on our own development and on implementing the growth strategy we have set out. The investment does not change that, says CEO Per Sjørup Christiansen.
However, the large shareholding does not give SJF Bank a corresponding level of influence at the general meeting. Møns Bank’s articles of association impose a cap under which no shareholder can exercise more than one per cent of the bank’s total voting rights, regardless of how many shares they own.
Møns Bank also stresses that it continues to have a broad and locally rooted shareholder base with more than 9,300 shareholders.
It has not been disclosed from whom SJF Bank acquired the shares, how much it paid for the stake, or what plans the bank has for the investment.
