Banedanmark is challenged in hiring enough engineers, lawyers and IT specialists. This is written by Børsen, which has obtained access to documents in a memo from November 2022.

According to the memo, Banedanmark had, among other things, 46 vacant engineering positions at the time, where it was difficult to find a candidate.

The salary is too low
Anne Hougaard Olesen, who is director of finance and resources at Banedanmark, tells Børsen that they often find that people choose Banedanmark because of the salary.

– We see it as a major challenge that we are not competitive in terms of salary and also see it as crucial that we find a solution to this if we are to succeed in recruiting and retaining employees with the right skills, which must be help to ensure that the planned track projects in the coming years up to 2030 can be completed, she tells the newspaper.

Can postpone smaller construction projects
Anne Hougaard Olesen says at the same time that it may be necessary to investigate whether smaller construction projects can be postponed.

This can possibly be done by maintaining the existing rails instead of building new ones.

Johanne Nordmann, who is chairman of Djøf Offentlig, calls it a serious problem in a written quote to Ritzau that public workplaces can have such difficulty recruiting.

Important features will suffer
– Important societal functions – such as our infrastructure – will suffer from the lack of the right skills, she says.

Johanne Nordmann does not believe that salary stands alone. According to her, salary, working conditions and meaningfulness in the job make up the total package that the employees evaluate.

Generally difficult to recruit specialists
Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen (V) did not want to comment on the problem to Børsen.

But the Social Democrats’ transport spokesman Benny Engelbrecht tells the newspaper that you can’t just look at kroner and öre. He believes that it is generally difficult to obtain experts and specialists.
