Lolland Municipality is introducing tailored job search support for the partners of international employees. The job-to-partner initiative is free and includes personal guidance, language courses, and networking opportunities. The idea is to ensure that international families achieve a stronger local connection. This is part of the municipality’s strategy to enhance international recruitment and retain skilled employees in the area.

Support for the international workforce
In recent years, Lolland has experienced a significant influx of international employees coming to the area for work. Many of these employees relocate with their families, which places a demand on the municipality to ensure that the entire family thrives.

– It is crucial that the whole family thrives if they are to want to stay. A key part of this is ensuring that the partner also finds a job. But it’s not easy when the language and the job market are different from what one is used to, and many would therefore benefit from a helping hand, says Vibeke Grave, Chair of the Social and Labor Market Committee, in a press release.

Two-year project
The new job-to-partner package is therefore aimed at partners of international employees and offers a comprehensive range of tools to help them get started in the Danish job market.

The project is planned to run over a two-year period until the spring of 2026 and will be continuously evaluated to ensure it meets the expectations of both participants and local businesses. Initial feedback has been positive, and there are already examples of the initiative making a difference for those involved.
