On Sunday, Femern A/S had invited all neighbors and interested parties inside for a one-hour guided bus tour around the construction site, where the road was laid past the tunnel portal and the tunnel factory area. In total, there were 10 bus trips during the day, of which nine trips were for the Danish neighbors, while one bus trip was reserved for the German neighbors of the project on Fehmarn, who were invited to Rødbyhavn.
Fifth neighbor day
– We have held neighbors’ day four times before, and we set a participation record today. My impression is that our guests were happy and satisfied with what we could offer today, says Sidsel Greven Rasmussen, project manager in the authority department at Femern A/S, in a press release.
Direct dialogue with neighbors
She also points out that Neighbor Day is a good opportunity for Femern A/S to engage in direct dialogue with the project’s neighbours.
– We have a good dialogue with the neighbors on a daily basis, but there may be some who do not contact us, but who on such a day still have a few questions or wonder about something. Then they also meet us and get to see each other. We have several neighbors who have participated in the previous neighbor days, so we are now on a first name basis with many, says Sidsel Greven Rasmussen.
Along by chance
Somewhat coincidentally, the neighboring day was also visited by the couple Jørn Ove and Jette Holmegaard from Korsør. They were on a mini-holiday in Nakskov at the weekend and happened to pass the exhibition center in Rødbyhavn. Here, there was suddenly space on one of the bus tours.
– We were lucky there. We really got a lot of information about the project. We saw a lot and I would say that you only really understand how big it is when you see it, says Jørn Ove Holmegaard, while his better half agrees.
– We are pleasantly surprised that Femern A/S does so much to inform the local population – and not least with everything the guides could tell. It was top notch, noted Jette Holmegaard.
