The consulting engineering company Rina Denmark has been on the first inspection visit to the Fehmarn construction site in Rødbyhavn. Rina Denmark is the so-called NoBo (Notified Body) on the railway part of the Fehmarn project. Their task is to monitor that the project complies with applicable European standards in the area.

Prerequisite for commissioning permit
Before trains and cars can run through the Fehmarntunnel – according to the plan in 2029, a commissioning permit must be obtained. And a prerequisite for obtaining such a permit is that the entire project has complied with European standards. It involves two to three annual inspection visits, and this is the first of those that have just finished.

Ready for production
The conclusion of the individual inspections and any partial reports are not published, so the concrete outcome of Rina Denmark’s first visit to the Fehmarn construction site is unknown. However, Rina Denmark informs FemernReport that the visit took place now because the first trial castings of a tunnel segment have been made, and the tunnel element factory is getting ready to start work.

Copenhagen-Ringsted approved
The European standards set specific requirements for, among other things, how to test and document.

Rina Denmark was also a NoBo inspector on the new railway connection between Copenhagen and Ringsted, which forms the first stage of the corridor between Copenhagen and Hamburg. The connection between Copenhagen and Ringsted was in accordance with the applicable standards, concludes Rina Denmark.

The consulting engineering company Rina is headquartered in Spain.
