DKK 25 more per hour for foreign construction workers

– I am very satisfied that we are delivering noticeable improvements to our members’ wages and working conditions in exactly the areas that they have prioritized the most, says chairman of the 3F Construction Group, Claus von Elling, in a press release.

Housing allowance for foreigners
The agreement ensures foreign workers an extraordinary housing allowance of up to DKK 25 per hour during the first four months they work in Denmark. If the employer does not then make suitable accommodation available, the foreign colleague bears the supplement for up to 12 months.

– This is a new breakthrough in our collective agreements and the first time we can present a special income boost to the lowest paid foreign colleagues. The challenges of social dumping are particularly widespread in our industries. That is why we have also made it a priority to reduce the gap between the salary that foreign colleagues eat away at and the usual salary level, says Claus von Elling.

4.5 percent per year
The minimum rates will increase by DKK 4.50 in both 2023 and 2024, and the price lists will increase by 4.0 per cent in 2023 and 3.9 per cent respectively. in 2024. Employers must henceforth pay two percentage points more in pension contributions, while employees’ contributions will be reduced accordingly and thus paid out as wages. Free choice, which is now called “Special salary savings,” increases during the period by 1.8 percentage points.

– These increases are to a large extent – together with the upcoming local wage negotiations at the companies – helping to secure our members’ purchasing power in uncertain times with high inflation, says Claus von Elling.

– The collective agreement also ensures better conditions and tools for the trade union representatives, as well as better conditions for moving from unskilled to skilled, targeted at the green transition. These are important topics for the future, which are also reflected in our collective agreement renewal, says Claus von Elling.

Eight percent for apprentices
Through the agreement, pupils and apprentices get a general salary increase of eight per cent during the period – and at the same time employers’ payments for pupils and apprentices are increased by two per cent. to the special salary savings.

There are nice increases to pay during illness and injury, as well as to the rates for parental leave, maternity leave and so on.

Clearer wording
– Our members have also expressed a desire for better tools in the efforts for a better working environment, and here we have reached the goal with a clearer formulation for use of what employees can do if they assess that there is a risk to safety and health in a specific work situation, says Claus von Elling.

– All in all, a collective agreement result that will lift and benefit our members on all our prioritized, central wishes and issues, which bodes well for the future, says Claus von Elling.
