3F misses vocational training in the Finance Act

Former Danish Prime Minister, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen (S) is an apprentice ambassador for the Fehmarn project. Here he is together with process operator apprentice Andreas Madsen, who earlier this year won the DM in Skills. But the current prime minister and the rest of the government have not accommodated vocational training in this year's Finance Act, and that disappoints 3F.

Denmark’s largest trade union is deeply disappointed by a finance law which does not prioritize investments in vital vocational training at all. This is what 3F writes in a press release.

Gambling
The government is gambling with the future growth opportunities in Denmark and not least the green transition. This is the message from 3F, after the Finance Act for 2023 was presented today.

– We will only lack even more skilled workers in the coming years. Large investments in machines, teachers and learning environments and upgrades to buildings are needed if we are to train the skilled workers we need, says Søren Heisel, union secretary of 3F.

Vocational training forgotten in the Finance Act
The government’s basis indicates that there must be a “significant strengthening of vocational training.” But that ambition has apparently been forgotten in the Finance Act, where the AMU area has not been prioritized either.

– We need more action and less talk. We will lack 100,000 skilled workers in the next year, and it will end up being a disaster for both the green transition and economic growth if we don’t start taking the problem seriously, says Søren Heisel.
