The head offices at COWI in Kongens Lyngby are being reshuffled. After fifteen years on the post as COO, the adviser, who is also an adviser to the FLC consortium, has chosen to say goodbye to Rasmus Ødum.

Joined COWI in 1997
Rasmus Ødum, who is educated in agricultural economics, joined COWI back in 1997. He began his career at COWI with a focus on project management within the environmental and agricultural sectors, particularly in international contexts. He advanced quickly, and he has, among other things, been divisional director in COWI Denmark for geographic information and IT. For a period Ødum was also managing director of COWI India. From 2008 to 2012, Ødum was Executive Vice President of COWI Denmark, before becoming COO.

– It is not easy to say goodbye to Rasmus, who has been a deeply committed and highly skilled colleague for many years. He is the sponsor of many of the initiatives that have enabled COWI to implement challenging projects. I would like to thank Rasmus for his many invaluable contributions to COWI over the years, says managing director, Jens Højgaard Christoffersen, in a press release.

Will both simplify and expand management
According to the press release, COWI will both simplify the management structure and expand the group management. And here there was no room for Rasmus Ødum.

COWI’s ambition is to continue the company’s significant growth and strengthen its position on the market in the coming years.

– COWI has delivered around ten percent organic growth in recent years and is standing strong despite volatile market conditions. The world is changing rapidly, both for our customers and for us. We will assist our customers and partners as strongly as possible in their transition to a more sustainable world, where technological development, green energy and more sustainable materials are becoming increasingly important. Therefore, we need a simple management structure and an even stronger group management, explains Jens Højgaard Christoffersen in the press release.

Resignation by mutual agreement
– The managers of our four geographical business units as well as the managers of HR and our engineering and design centers will in future be part of the group management. This means that we can pick up signals and make decisions even faster and more efficiently. As a consequence, we have also chosen to abolish the role of Group Chief Operating Officer (COO). By mutual agreement and when the handover has been completed, the current COO, Rasmus Ødum, will leave COWI after 15 years in the executive board, it is further stated in the press release from COWI.
