There are many heavy elements that need to be lifted, lowered and moved on such a large construction project as the construction of the Fehmarn link.
This is positive for the suppliers of lifting equipment.
– We have been involved from the start of the project. I think it has become more and more positive for us to be a supplier for the project, so we can’t complain about that, says Tom Fyllgraf, director of Nos A/S, which is experiencing increasing sales.
Nos A/S supplies almost everything regarding steel wires, ropes, lifting equipment, and lashing equipment.
It can be anything from lifting chains and lifting straps to snatch blocks, shackles, grub screws, and fall protection equipment.
The equipment is currently typically used on the ships that are working to dig the tunnel channel.
Acquired this year
Nos A/S is based in Horsens, where the company has 13 employees. The sale is handled over the phone or e-mail, after which the lifting equipment is delivered by carriers to Rødbyhavn.
– As sales increase, it becomes an increasingly important part of our business, and when the project stretches over such a long time, it is important for us to be involved, says Tom Fyllgraf.
On January 1st, Nos A/S was acquired by Grene Wind Industry Suppliers A/S in Ryomgård, which supplies tools, special tools/equipment, electric controls and components, hydraulic tools, lifting gear, and spare parts to the wind turbine industry, offshore and the energy sector.
Expecting increasing demand
The companies are considering whether there is a need for a joint presence in Rødbyhavn or in Zealand, where they do not currently have a branch. They are expecting that there will be increasing demand for lifting equipment in the coming years.
– At the moment, we sell the Dutch dredging vessels to the most, but once the land-based contractors get started, we will also be involved. There is no doubt about that, says Tom Fyllgraf.
– Our wires and lifting equipment will be useful when construction is to be done on the port facility, infrastructure, and pontoons that have to lower the tunnel elements down. So I expect that we can be involved, even if not for the entire period so that we at least are involved in the project a long way down the road, concludes Tom Fyllgraf.
