A 130 meter long and 48 meter wide pontoon is ready to be deployed in the work to build the tunnel between Denmark and Germany.

The pontoon was built at the Polish shipyard Crist S.A. in Gdynia and was recently handed over to FLC – Femern Link Contractors. It will be used to submerge the gravel that will lie on the seabed, and on which the 89 tunnel elements will be submerged.

Holds for gravel and employees
The pontoon is equipped with two large holds, each of which can hold 7,000 tonnes of gravel, and in addition facilities to house 19 employees who can work in two-shift shifts. It is 37.5 meters high from the bottom to the tip of the mast.

The Crist shipyard is currently in the process of constructing two more pontoons that will be used to sail the tunnel elements out from the working harbor in Rødbyhavn.
