Since November 2022, the shipping, transport and logistics company Blue Water Shipping has had a contract to handle the port administration in the large working port in Rødbyhavn.

It is a task that grows in scope as it gets busier and busier in the working port.

Should be eight this summer
Therefore, Blue Water is currently recruiting new employees for the port administration in the working port.

– Our fourth employee starts on Wednesday. This summer, I expect that we will have approximately eight employees, as we will have to staff the office 24/7, says Troels Nyerup, Harbor Manager, Blue Water Shipping.

In the working port, the many materials such as sand, gravel, stone and steel are sailed in. When the tunnel elements are finished, they must be pulled out of the harbor by means of tugboats, so that they can be lowered into place in the Fehmarn Belt.

“We coordinate all the time”
– The port will be closed there, and there could easily be four ships on their way here, where we have to say that you have to take it easy, because the port is closed for the next 12 hours. But that’s what we do, we coordinate all the time, and I’m looking forward to us getting started 24/7 and to a completely different pulse coming out here, says Troels Nyerup.

Looking for local harbor assistants
Among other things, Blue Water is looking for port assistants for port service, who must help monitor and register ship arrivals in the port, arrange berths, assist the crew of docked ships and maintain the port, among other things.

– These will be new hires primarily from the local area. It will be an advantage if you have knowledge of the maritime world, but it is not essential. The most important thing is to have the right attitude and the will to want to learn, says Troels Nyerup.
