The construction of the Fehmarn Belt link has resulted in a new wage agreement set to take effect on January 1, 2025. The agreement guarantees wage increases of up to 5.15 percent. In addition, the collective agreement has been extended from March 1, 2025, ensuring stability in the years to come.
The agreement was reached between the trade unions under Danske Byggefag and the Femern Belt Construction (FBC) consortium.
Higher Wages for Key Employees
With the new agreement, several employee groups will receive significant wage increases. Mechanics and electricians will now earn 240.50 DKK per hour, an increase of 11.78 DKK. Excavator operators will earn 220.17 DKK per hour, a raise of 7.95 DKK, while unskilled workers and other machine operators will earn 206.00 DKK per hour, an increase of 7.44 DKK. This agreement provides an economic boost to many key workers crucial to the project’s execution.
According to Dennis Fridthjof, union secretary for Dansk El-Forbund Storstrøm, the agreement exemplifies how collaboration can achieve tangible results.
– This agreement doesn’t just benefit the employees on the Fehmarn project—it also supports the entire local community and has a significant impact on local wage levels, he said.
The new wage agreement is expected to uplift wage levels throughout Lolland-Falster and South Zealand.
