Vestas' annual report for 2024 shows that the company continues to invest in offshore production, and the factory in Nakskov plays a central role in this development. Here, blades are produced for Vestas' large V236-15 MW turbines, which will be used in upcoming projects in, among other places, the Baltic Sea and Poland.
During the year, Vestas increased capacity in Nakskov, as part of a strategy to ensure a more stable supply for offshore projects. The production at the factory in Nakskov delivers blades that will be used for the large Baltic Power project in Poland, which will be the first project in the world to use low-emission steel in the production of turbine components.
According to the report, Vestas continues to expand the production of components globally, but the factory in Nakskov remains an important piece in the company's goal to deliver quality products and drive a more sustainable energy transition. In 2024, Vestas experienced an increasing demand for offshore solutions, which contributed to the company's total order backlog now standing at 68.4 billion euros.
Production in Nakskov is expected to intensify further in 2025, when the first deliveries for several large projects are to take place. At the same time, Vestas is focusing on reducing the environmental impact of production through innovative material solutions and collaborating with suppliers on sustainable raw materials.
