More and more life is coming to Rødbyhavn’s new district FLC Village, which also goes by the name of the Tunnel City. Right now, 636 FLC employees have moved into the city, which will be able to house 1,344 inhabitants when it is planned to be fully completed in 2024.

Thus, the Tunnel City around is half finished, when you look at the population. But looking at the facilities, FLC Village is more than halfway complete.

Common facilities ready
Many of the common facilities are already ready. This applies to, among other things, four canteens with space for 150 people each, a gym, a games room with pool and table tennis, a “cinema” with a large TV screen that is also used for major football matches and, most recently, an unmanned grocery store.

The key to success is to activate our employees and ensure that they have a healthy leisure life, says FLC Village Manager, Jens Tornager.

It is Adapteo that is responsible for the construction of the Tunnel City as a modular construction that can be taken down again when the Fehmarn project is completed.

Small but good
The Tunnel City is being built on an area of 30,000 square meters. Each building consists of 32 rooms divided into 16 on each floor. On each floor there is a 47 square meter common room with TV, microwave and electric cooker as well as a laundry.

Prioritizes fast internet
The room itself is 8.8 square meters and consists of a bed, desk, bath and toilet and a small fridge. There is however, no TV.

We have prioritized fast internet because the residents themselves bring a computer from which they stream, says Jens Tornager.

Nice with privacy
Health and Safety Ambassador at FLC, Marek Pucula, has lived in the Tunnel City for a year, and he was thus among the first to move in.

It’s a good place to live. The facilities are new, and it’s great that you have your own separate room, so you can have some privacy, says Marek Pucula.

Currently, 768 rooms in the Tunnel City are ready for occupancy.
