Over the summer, the Fehmarn project has gone from being a construction project that built a construction site to being a tunnel factory that will build a Fehmarn tunnel. This can be felt at Femern Agency, who recruits employees for the project.
– Until today, the project has been 100 percent construction work, and there will still be a part of that until next year. But now there will also be industrial production in the element factory, explains Per Bech Grønning, head of Femern Agency.
Casting requires different recruitment
Until now, the project has been focused on building the production facilities needed to start the production of the tunnel – especially the large element factory. But now the casting of segments has started, and it requires a completely different recruitment, says the Femern Agency manager.
– There is a big difference between those who work in construction and those who work in industrial production. We must keep an eye on this in our further work.
Look ahead
Therefore, Femern Agency will hold a themed day in September, where they look ahead to the next phases of the project.
– We will of course try to look ahead and see how things will possibly develop – both on the local, regional and national labor market. And then we will adjust our efforts accordingly. My guess is that our task will change every time the project reaches a new phase, says Per Bech Grønning.
Dialogue with SICE-COBRA
Femern Agency has therefore also entered into a dialogue with the consortium SICE-COBRA, which will supply technological offal for the tunnel and is therefore the main buyer of labor for one of the project’s later phases, for which a completely new form of labor will be used.
– We are in dialogue with everyone who has to do with the project both now and in the future… either directly or indirectly, says Per Bech Grønning.
