Solar panels can now supply 1.25 million households with electricity. The establishment of solar panels on fields is progressing faster, but slower on buildings.

Five gigawatts of solar power have now been installed in Denmark.

This is shown by figures that the industry association Dansk Solcelleforening has gained insight into.

In a press release, the association writes that the expansion has primarily occurred through the establishment of solar panels on field areas.

Conversely, the expansion of solar panels on buildings is declining, it says.

In total, 807 megawatts of solar panel capacity have been installed in 2025.

Out of this, 643 megawatts are ground-based, writes Dansk Solcelleforening. Thus, 23 percent more solar energy was established on the ground in 2025 compared to the previous year.

At the same time, 164 megawatts of solar panels were installed on buildings. This is a decrease of about a quarter compared to 2024.

Overall, the five gigawatts of installed solar panel capacity can supply what corresponds to approximately 1.25 million households' annual electricity consumption, writes Dansk Solcelleforening.
