The shipowner from Fredericia, Jørgen Holm Christensen, has sued Femern A/S for no less than 29 million DKK. The background is that in 2012, the shipowner made an agreement with Femern A/S for partial compensation because a five-year agreement for guard sailing during the construction of the Fehmarnbelt connection was interrupted. This is reported by DOI.dk - Danish Offshore Industry.
He received six million DKK - at the same time, Jørgen Holm Christensen was verbally promised work again when the work on the fixed link resumed. Although the shipowner's company subsequently went bankrupt, he had numerous meetings with Femern A/S in Copenhagen from 2012 to 2020. But when the work began again, the verbal agreement was forgotten - which led the shipowner to repeatedly contact the state-owned company to have the agreement honoured. While the shipowner, a former employee, and an accountant believe a verbal agreement was made - Femern A/S believes the opposite.
So far, 73-year-old Jørgen Holm Christensen has both presented audio recordings and contacted DF's party leader Morten Messerschmidt, who has asked questions to the Minister of Transport about the case. The Ministry of Transport owns Femern A/S. Subsequently, the shipowner filed a police report, but the case was dismissed by the police. The futile attempts to fulfil the verbal agreement have now culminated in the shipowner, backed by Advokaterne Strandvejen, suing Femern A/S for 29 million DKK at the Copenhagen City Court. DOI.dk has had insight into the extensive lawsuit, which the court received on 13 March.
DOI.dk has been in contact with the CEO of Femern A/S, Henrik Vincentsen, who has no comments on the lawsuit from Jørgen Holm Christensen.
