Scaling down in the USA after tariff threats
Political uncertainty and punitive tariffs threaten Proplast's American market.
Director Peter Rosenkrands.
Proplast is sticking to the expansion in Præstø and the production already planned for 2026. But in one area, the course has tightened: the USA plays a smaller role in the growth plans following political unrest and reports of possible punitive tariffs.
This is according to director Peter Rosenkrands to TV2 ØST.
- We probably shouldn't focus too much on the American market, he says.
The USA has so far been part of the business, but uncertainty about the framework conditions makes it harder to plan, and therefore Proplast is increasingly looking towards other markets. According to Rosenkrands, it is about spreading the risk and building growth on several legs outside the USA.
At the same time, he emphasises that the existing activity in the USA is not currently affected, and that the investments in Præstø continue as planned.
