The economic exchange between Denmark and Germany has gained momentum this year, even though Germany's overall exports are stagnant. New figures from the German statistics office, Statistisches Bundesamt, show that trade between the two countries in the first half of 2025 has grown significantly compared to the same period last year.

Germany's exports to Denmark increased by 6.4 percent, while the country's total exports to the world decreased by 0.1 percent. To the EU-27, that is, the 27 member states of the European Union, the growth was only 1.2 percent.

Trade has also grown in the opposite direction. Germany's imports from Denmark increased by 5.5 percent in the first half, compared to an overall increase in imports from the whole world of 4.4 percent and 1.9 percent from the EU-27.

The figures underline that Denmark has strengthened its position as a trading partner for Germany at a time when the overall German export market is experiencing weak development.
