”Femern Fyrtårn II – Kvalificeret arbejdskraft” is the title of a project that aims to secure qualified labour for companies in the entire region of Zealand and including the geography closest to the Fehmarn construction site. The Center for Vocational Education at Lolland Falster (CELF) is in charge of the project.
Cooperation between education sites
The project is a collaboration between educational institutions throughout Region Zealand and Erhvervshus Zealand. At the beginning of 2023, the partner group will submit an application to the Danish Business Promotion Agency for the project.
Must support the knowledge and learning centre
Until 2025, the project will support the establishment of the planned knowledge and learning centre at Rødbyhavn and strengthen the supply of qualified labour for sustainable construction and business development derived from the Fehmarn Belt connection. CELF applied for one to two hundred thousand euros in regional development funds as co-financing. The main project is expected to have a total budget of 5,7 million euros.
Region Zealand lacks manpower
According to Region Zealand, the project supports a highly prioritized focus on business development and labour in connection with the Fehmarn construction. Even if, as expected, there is a slowdown in Denmark’s growth and development and general construction activity, the forecasts show that there will continue to be a labour shortage within the construction and construction industry in Region Zealand in the coming years.
