It is one of Denmark's largest solar parks, and it is not yet completed. But now European Energy has sold Lidsø Solar Park near Rødbyhavn on Lolland.

The company announced in a press release. The buyer of the park is the company Alight, which is headquartered in Sweden and develops, owns, and operates solar parks in several places in Europe.

With its capacity of 215 megawatts, the solar park is, according to European Energy, one of the largest in Denmark, and it is expected to be ready by summer. Contracts have already been signed with companies that will purchase the electricity.

DSB has thus committed to purchasing 80 gigawatt hours annually for ten years, which will cover 29 percent of the company's current electricity consumption for train operations.

The agreement with Alight means that European Energy will complete the construction of the park and also be responsible for its daily operation in the future.

And European Energy will also continue to work on other projects in the local area, assures owner Knud Erik Andersen.

- Importantly, European Energy remains committed to Lolland Municipality, where we have multiple projects under development. We continue to work closely with the municipality to ensure that renewable energy investments contribute to local employment and attract outside investment, he says in the press release.

It is European Energy that has plans for a large power-to-x plant to be built in Nakskov. Here, green electricity is to be converted into e-methanol, and European Energy has purchased a site but has not yet made the final decision to actually construct the factory.

At Alight, Managing Director Warren Campbell is also pleased with the deal. He also suggests that the company sees several exciting opportunities in Denmark.

- Our acquisition of Lidsø solar park, which European Energy has done a fantastic job developing, will help meet the country’s rising electricity demand and marks just the beginning of our plans to contribute to Denmark’s energy transition. Additional strategic acquisitions and partnerships will play a key role in our expansion, he says in the press release.
