There are big plans for Aalholm Castle in Nysted.

Back in April, it was revealed that Just Eat billionaire Bo Ladegaard Bendtsen wants to turn the castle and parts of the park into a holiday and conference centre with sports fields, a wellness area, and a restaurant. Rumours even suggest that the restaurant is to be Michelin-level.

However, the latest accounts of the billionaire's Danish investments show a significant loss in 2024.

This is reported by Jyllands-Posten.

Loses over 200 million

Bo Bendtsen's Danish investments in the company Euro Economics Commercial Properties ApS lost no less than 235 million kroner last year.

According to the media, it is the investment in the biogas group BioCirc that has, among other things, resulted in a very red year. In fact, equity has gone from 189 million kroner to -45 million.

However, there seems to be no immediate concern in the management, which expects that equity will be "restored through future profits and capital injection", according to Jyllands-Posten in the accounts.

The difficult local plan

At the council meeting in May, the major Aalholm plans moved a step closer. Although Aalholm Castle is a listed medieval castle and is located in a coastal protection zone, surrounded by areas with nature protection, it was possible to piece together a new local plan.

This pleased the chairman of the technical, climate, and environmental committee, Jesper Blomberg (M).

- I am sure that many municipalities are very annoyed that Aalholm is not located in their municipality and thus cannot become their project. But I am proud that we can raise Nysted and Aalholm Castle again by supporting this local plan, said chairman Jesper Blomberg (M) in the council chamber.
