– I have never experienced anything like it. There has been overwhelming interest. We have received over 60 inquiries since we sent out the press release (on 16 February, ed.), says Søren Meiling, director of Robert C. Spies Nordics ApS.
Robert C. Spies is a German real estate agent and consultant specializing in commercial construction, and the newly founded Danish subsidiary is responsible for the letting of Hub 48 Maribo. And even before the design of the first part of the 50,000 square meter business and logistics centre started, the interest was overwhelming.
First phase for craftsmen
The first stage of Hub 48 Maribo is intended for craft companies and other subcontractors for Fehmarnbyggeriet. The stage will have a total of 3,800 square meters for rent, and Søren Meiling does not expect that there will be empty square meters when it is inaugurated in 2024:
– We would prefer to rent it all out before it is built. There isn’t that much space in phase one, so I’m definitely counting on that. It doesn’t quite sell itself, and no contracts have been signed yet, but there has certainly been interest, he says.
100 years of history
Robert C. Spies has over 100 years of history behind him in Germany and has collaborated with the property developer Peper & Söhne on several large projects in his home country. But the project in Maribo is the first outside Germany:
– We have been looking north for a long time, and when the tunnel opens, the area will become a powerhouse in Europe. But the development is something that is happening right now, and we have been working on this for over a year, says Søren Meiling from Robert C. Spies.
Cooperation with local broker
Robert C. Spies himself will not be responsible for all the practical work of renting out the many square meters in Maribo Erhvervspark. The German company is currently negotiating with a local broker who can take care of showings and leases:
– I actually have a meeting with a broker on Thursday (March 2, ed.), and then I can tell you more about it, says Søren Meiling.
Access to German network
In addition to a roof over their heads close to the Fehmarn tunnel, the tenants in Hub 48 Maribo also get access to the large German network both Robert C. Spies and Peper & Söhne come to Denmark with: – We see ourselves more as a mediator and advisor than just a broker. And we have many projects in Germany that can be a good opportunity for Danish companies – and we would very much like to help create that contact across the belt, says Søren Meiling.
