The government and a broad majority in the Danish Parliament have decided that Denmark will have 11 state industrial parks. Originally, the plan was to designate only five, but the interest from municipalities has been far greater than expected. A total of 31 municipalities applied as candidates, and the desire for both geographical balance and green growth has led the government to more than double the number.
The state industrial parks are to offer faster authority processing, fewer barriers, and a single point of contact for large manufacturing companies. The aim is to create new jobs, attract investments, and strengthen Denmark's position as a green industrial nation.
The Minister for Business, Morten Bødskov, calls the decision a clear signal of a new industrial policy direction:
- Production Denmark is the backbone of our local communities. With 11 industrial parks, we show that active industrial policy is the way forward. We need speed, green transition, and jobs across the country.
Here are the 11 industrial parks
Lolland - Rødbyhavn (Femern Port & Industrial Park)
Rødbyhavn is distinguished by its location directly at the Fehmarn Belt connection and a complete infrastructure with a port, railway, motorway, and energy supply. The area builds on the tunnel element factory and the work harbour, which have already established technical facilities and access roads. The business area is planned for green production, logistics, and energy-intensive companies. The municipality has worked purposefully to create an industrial base on an international scale, and interest from foreign players has been growing. The formal approval of industrial park status awaits clarification on the future organisation of the tunnel area, but there is a plan to continue business development in the area.
Næstved and Vordingborg - Industrial Hub Zealand (Tappernøje/Bårse)
Industrial Hub Zealand is a joint initiative between Næstved and Vordingborg municipalities. The area is centrally located in the corridor between Copenhagen and the Fehmarn connection and has direct access to motorway and railway. The business area is planned for green production, logistics, and energy. The municipalities have established a joint planning authority and a unified contact interface for the business community, making the area administratively ready for larger establishments. Hub Zealand is intended as a regional hub for production and transport in the South Zealand area.
Kalundborg - Biotech and Energy Park
Kalundborg's business area builds on the existing industrial symbiosis, where companies share resources, energy, and waste streams. The municipality already has a strong cluster in biotech, energy, and green chemistry and is expanding with new areas to meet demand. The area has direct access to port, district heating, green electricity, and industrial network. The combination of production, supply, and educational environments around Helix Lab and Campus Kalundborg makes the area particularly suitable for further development.
Kerteminde - Lindø Industrial Park
Lindø Industrial Park near Munkebo is one of Denmark's largest port-based industrial environments. It already has extensive production capacity, testing facilities, and access to a deep-water port. The area is developed for heavy industry, ship production, and offshore components. The municipality and the port are working to expand capacity so that large wind components and maritime production can be gathered in one environment with direct access to export. The port-adjacent location and existing infrastructure make the area particularly suitable for green and scalable production.
Esbjerg - Energy and Offshore
Esbjerg already has a strong position as a centre for offshore, wind, and energy production. The area around the East Harbour and Korskro West is planned for large energy companies with access to the port, motorway, and upcoming hydrogen infrastructure. The municipality has developed plans for technical water, cooling, and energy distribution for industrial purposes. The industrial park is intended to create coherence between the port's existing offshore activities and new green production facilities that can support export and Power-to-X projects.
Aalborg - Green Industrial Park at the East Harbour
The industrial park in Aalborg is located at the East Harbour, where several energy-intensive and green companies are already based. The area holds potential for CO₂ capture, Power-to-X, and wind component production. The municipality has a clear plan to develop the area as a centre for green industry and energy technology in North Jutland. The combination of the port, university, and local industrial cluster creates a connection between production, research, and supply.
GreenLab Skive
GreenLab Skive is already an established industrial area where green energy and businesses are connected in a circular system. The area uses local wind and solar energy, and companies share resources in a combined network. The municipality has documented concrete results with green production, storage, and collaboration between businesses, supply, and research. The designation provides an opportunity to expand the area and use the model as an example for future green industrial parks in Denmark.
Viborg - Foulum Bioeconomy Park
At Foulum north of Viborg, research and industry within bioenergy, food, and agricultural technology are brought together. The area has large, contiguous spaces and a direct connection to Aarhus University and Agro Business Park. The municipality has worked purposefully to create an environment where knowledge and production take place side by side. Bioeconomy and green food production are in focus, and the area is planned with infrastructure and energy supply that make it suitable for large-scale production.
Ikast-Brande - Business area southwest of the town
Ikast-Brande has a strong business environment and a significant proportion of manufacturing companies. The designated area is close to the motorway and is prepared for energy-intensive industry. The municipality has experience with large business establishments and has worked with flexible planning solutions that allow for rapid expansion. The area can accommodate both green production and logistics and is intended to function as a new centre for industrial growth in Central Jutland.
Horsens - Industrial Park Nova
Industrial Park Nova is located by the E45 and has direct access to main infrastructure. In recent years, the municipality has experienced high demand for commercial land and an active strategy for green production and technology.
The area is under development and planned for both large production companies and logistics operators. Horsens has a clear organisation of case processing and planning work, making the area suitable for the rapid realisation of new projects.
Aabenraa - Kassø Energy and Industrial Park
The Kassø area in Aabenraa is already under development as one of Denmark's largest commercial areas for green transition. Large solar parks, Power-to-X facilities, and connections to electricity and hydrogen infrastructure have been established here.
The municipality has laid out a strategic master plan that combines business development, supply security, and green energy. The area is intended to function as a centre for energy production, technology, and green business development in southern Denmark.
