Festival atmosphere for Fehmarn Belt Days

Visitors to the citizens’ day on this year’s Fehmarn Belt Days Sunday could almost feel like they were being treated to a summer festival. There was music from the tent stage, draft beer and soft drinks, a baking competition and volunteer service guards in yellow vests. And by the way, it was sold out – at least of the 3,600 free tickets for bus tours around the construction site.

No queues
However, everything took place at a peaceful pace, and there were no queues for either toilet vans, food stalls or draft beer dispensing. And for the bus tours, there was a constant, steady stream of guests, but here too there were no queues or waiting in the sun.

Both German and Danish were spoken at the party site next to the Femern construction site in Rødbyhavn. Quite a few Germans had accepted the offer of free bus transport from Fehmarn to Rødbyhavn.

Bus tickets sold out
FemernReport met the communications manager, Morten Kramer Nielsen, from Femern A/S, who is a co-organizer of Fehmarn Belt Days, at the square, and he too was fully satisfied with the event:

– Bus tickets are sold out, so there are at least 3,600 here, he said.

Fehmarn Belt Days 2023 is jointly organized by Femern A/S, Region Zealand, the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the STRING mega-region, Lolland Municipality, Fehmarnbelt Business Council and Fehmarn belt Committee.

Conference day Monday
On Monday, Fehmarn Belt Days continues with a conference day for businesses and organisations. Here is the headline “Unlocking the Green Potential of a Unified North” to explore the future of a competitive Fehmarn region developing within the green mega-region of Northern Europe.

Fehmarn Belt Days has been held every other year since 2012. This year is the first time that the Danish-German folk festival has also been invited. And judging by the turnout and the many visibly impressed faces on the bus trip, it will hardly be the last time.

FemernReport naturally also covers the conference on Monday.
