Since 2021, Denmark has moved up 8 places on the list of the most popular countries for foreigners seeking work. This is indicated by a new global survey from Boston Consulting Group and The Network, of which the Danish Jobindex is a part.
The survey has been conducted since 2014 and is the largest of its kind in the world with over 150,000 respondents from 185 countries – including 11,000 from Denmark. The last time it was conducted was in 2021, when Denmark was ranked 24th. Since then, we have risen to 17th place in the world and 1st place in the Nordic region, according to Dansk Industri at DIbusiness.dk.
Europeans want to work in Denmark
The capital is also performing well. Copenhagen ranks in the ‘Top 30’ at 28th place among the most popular cities for foreign labor, also surpassing the Nordic capitals.
And it is particularly Europeans who want to work in Denmark. Among the top ten countries whose workforce wants to work in Denmark, 9 are European. Only Pakistan is non-European, while the top three are Estonia, Finland, and Portugal. They are followed by the Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, and Poland.
Need for many more
Steen Nielsen, deputy director at Dansk Industri (DI), is pleased:
– It is very good news that Denmark is an attractive labor market for international workers. It is crucial for us that international labor is aware of us and wants to work in Denmark. We will need many more in the Danish labor market in the future, and we cannot succeed without international employees, who have accounted for 87 percent of the employment growth over the last 12 months, he says.
