Everything to do with the Fehmarn project takes place on a large scale. Thus, you also have to get hold of the big numbers if the conversation turns to the accounting figures from some of the big companies responsible for the construction.
45.2 billion Euros
There is, for example, good business in store for French Vinci, which forms a large part of the FLC consortium. During the first nine months of the year, the French construction giant had a total turnover of 45.2 billion Euros.
Acquired Cobra IS
At the end of 2021, Vinci acquired Cobra IS, which is the energy division of Grupo Cobra. Together with SICE, Cobra forms the consortium FTC (Fehmarn Technical Contractors), which will be responsible for the technical innards of the Fehmarn Tunnel. That purchase seems like a good deal. In any case, there were orders for 6 billion euros in the order book for Cobra IS. In the first nine months of the year, Cobra IS had a turnover of 4,1 billion euros. The figures appear in the latest quarterly report from Vinci.
Expects better results
Based on the first nine months of 2022, VINCI expects net income for the year to be higher than the previous year.
Despite geopolitical, economic and pandemic-related uncertainty, VINCI remains convinced that we will be able to maintain steady growth in the long term. The Group is placed well to achieve this due to the diversity of our business activities and geographical locations. In addition, as a supplier of services to the energy, construction and mobility industries, we are positioned to take advantage of the new opportunities that arise due to the need to ensure that growth is sustainable and environmentally friendly, says the quarterly report.
Motorways, airports and construction
In addition to the construction business, Vinci operates, among other things, motorways and airports in its home country of France. That part of the business alone contributed to a turnover of 6 billion euros in the first nine months of the year. However, the contracting business still accounts for the vast majority of the turnover – approximately 21,5 billion euros. Today, more than half of Vinci’s revenue comes from outside France.
