– I work in there every day.
– God, how big it is!
There was pointing and telling when the main contractor at Femernbyggepladsen FLC (Femern Link Contractors, ed.) invited all employees with families to the big family day of the year on Saturday.
Last year FLC held the first family day for 180 people. But this year there were 550 registered.
We are so proud – It is important for our employees that they are allowed to show what they are working on to their families. We are all simply so proud of this project, says project director at FLC Christian Lundhus.
– We demand something from our employees, and it takes up a lot of our lives. Even my wife can get a little tired of hearing about this project. We spend a lot of hours here and we are really committed to our jobs. That is why it is important for the families to see what we are doing, said the project director, who had also taken his wife on the trip himself.
A special and rare peek But, as it is still Denmark’s largest construction site, father, mother or grandfather and grandmother cannot just drag children and grandchildren to work.
As previously described, the security measures are great. But on Saturday it was possible for the families to get a very special look at the gigantic construction project.
Keep an eye on the little ones On this occasion, he also reminded parents and grandparents alike that they should look a little extra after the children, who had already had enough sugar for a high level of activity. Because even though Saturday was a party day, it was also an ordinary working day on the construction site.
– We didn’t want anyone to get hurt. That would be the worst thing that could happen, said Christian Lundhus.
Children and grandfather visited mother’s work
One of the families who had accepted the offer of a construction site visit was four-year-old Oliver and seven-year-old Benjamin, who had gone to the construction site with grandfather Henning Vestergaard to see mother Gosia Vestergaard’s workplace.
Father-in-law Henning was beyond happy to be able to visit Denmark’s largest construction project. Henning is on the board of the local utility company in Sunds, and is a trained electrical installer, so construction projects are of great interest to him and his circle of friends.

– It’s really very exciting! If I could get permission, I would hire a bus tomorrow, fill it up with people from Sunds and drive down here to have a look. It’s fantastic that we in Denmark can build something like this, cheered grandfather, who also got quality time with the kids as a bonus.
Don’t see the site on a daily basis Gosia was also happy to invite the family into his workplace. She is a buyer on the Fehmarn project. The family lives in Amager on a daily basis, and even an FLC employee does not necessarily see the construction site on a daily basis:
– I don’t see the construction site that often because I work in Copenhagen. And when I finally get down here, I’m so busy. So it’s actually also a fun day for me, Gosia said.
Even more next year The project director from FLC could already advertise next year’s family day on Saturday.
– Last year we received incredibly good feedback on the family day. So now we are holding it again this year, and I can safely say that we will be holding it again next year. And then we will probably be even more, because we will peak with the number of employees during the next year. The project is growing… It’s really big, Christian Lundhus concluded with an expectant smile.
